In dieser Ausgabe der Monthly Statistics stellt Revue Elargissement die wichtigsten Indikatoren für die EU-15 sowie die neuen Mitgliedstaaten zusammen.
The column’s comments:
- Except in Estonia, GDP growth slowed everywhere in the region during the first quarter in 2005 compared to the last three months of 2004. This deceleration can be explained by a less dynamic external demand, but also by a lowering internal one, i.e. household consumption as well as investment.
- The downtrend in consumer prices goes on in the CEEC. Since the end of summer 2004, a slower growth of production prices has also been observed, except in Hungary and, to a lesser extend, in Slovakia.
- In May, the Romanian Leu continued to gain in value as compared to the Euro, but at a slower pace than at the beginning of the year. Its current level corresponds to the one in force in March-April 2003.
